STABILIZATION: Erection of scaffolding to access Sacristy arcade

DISCUSSED: Lantern @ Sacristy: Patch & repair or strip & refinish? Judged: acceptable to patch
in place & mortar-wash. Wait until after concert to lift brick @ Sacristy arcade for access to footing excavations.

Crack in fired brick above Sacristy door to arcade – Shear crack at surface of mud adobe arches (BV 10.23.09) continues into Sacristy dome, may be result of 1887 EQ.
As part of the restoration of the Sacristy Arcade, the cement plaster will be removed from the burned adobe of the church and the mud adobe of the arcade [which was added later] – repairs will be made to the under-lying structure and a lime/sand nopal plaster applied as a protective skin.

WORK IN PROGRESS: (1) Maintenance of Mortuary Chapel dome & espadaña [open belfrv]; (2) mortar-wash maintenance @ High Altar dome (3) fill
DISCUSSED: Schedule and budget for Board meeting of 11.19.09; Scope of Work to include repair & re-plastering east wall of church as well as all surfaces of arcade; lowering parapet & restructuring roof per Vint drawings; clean-up electrical [remove abandoned inactive lines; install rigid conduit above ceiling in attic space; re-feed ;lighting; new light fixtures]; re-lay saguaro cactus rib ceiling and cover with thin layer {1’1/2” – 2” thick) lime mortar to simulate historic earth fill.
Visitors using new sidewalk to access Mission…saffolding removed from west side of Nave.

WORK IN PROGRESS: (1) Scaffolding coming down on North wall of High Altar – Fr. Steve will permit access through Friary courtyard for work on Sacristy arcade.
DISCUSSED: (1) Maintenance of espadaña at Mortuary Chapel; plaster is de-laminating from interior face. It may pose a safety hazard – MRB to explore and remove loose or detached plaster and repair w/lime/sand/nopal

(A.4) 12.18.09 SITE VISIT (9:00 a.m. – 60°)

WORK IN PROGRESS: (1) lifting brick @ arcade for access to foundation work and to avoid damaging brick w/lime plaster & mortarwash; (2) erection of scaffold @ interior of arcade; (3) construction of protective passageway to Sacristy and to Friary courtyard.
DISCUSSED: (1) Original canales @ east wall of church; restore per original shape, tint w/iron oxide to match those @ west (2) Need to seal area of work against DUST entering museum or church once demo operatiomnsd begin [plaster removal] (3) Electrical work – lighting selections [per Alicia].
