Patronato’s Spring at San Xavier

Patronato’s Spring concerts at the Mission with the Arizona Repertory Singers are not to be missed!

This talented community of singers, selected by audition, shares its tradition of choral artistry and varied performance repertoire with audiences of all ages.

“We will present a special program of music chosen specifically for the historically significant, visually stunning, and acoustically reverberant setting of Mission San Xavier del Bac,” said Elliot Jones, Music Director, Arizona Repertory Singers. “We will be singing sacred and secular music from the very old to the very new.”

John Dunstable’s Quam pulchra es will be followed immediately by Gabriel Jackson’s recent Song (I gaze upon you). It is fascinating to hear these English composers’ treatment of an intimate text (Dunstable’s from the Song of Solomon and Jackson’s translated from Paul Eluard), written nearly 600 years apart. Other classics will include O nata lux by Thomas Tallis, two madrigals from The Triumphs of Oriana, and Alice Parker’s arrangement of Hark I hear the harps eternal. Other new music will include Robert Convery’s The beautiful land of Nod, which had its premiere just last July, and a gorgeous arrangement of Somewhere over the rainbow.

Tickets are $55 each for the 5:30pm performance and $55 for 2 tickets to the 7:30pm performance. All proceeds from concert ticket sales will help The Patronato restore the East Tower and continue to conserve the beautiful interior of the Mission.
